"Sophie"

This is my master plan! I did a super poopie job at cutting Sophie out with paint so there's the "before cutting Sophie out with paint" picture. But anywho this will pretty much be my painting. The colors definitely can change, but this is the picture I'll be going off of. Opinions?

Volcano

This is the most recent painting I've done. It's way less cool in pictures though because you can't feel all the cool textures. It looks a bit lame from here but it really took quite a bit of effort. The sculpting paste and the painting and the blah blah blah. But it was super dooper fun to do. This was also in the art show, but won no awards. I meant to post yesterday but we had a wedding at my house. It was a big event and I had no time. :( But I might post again later tonight to compensate!

"No Title"

I have yet to begin my "Sophie" project. Of course I haven't been in my art class where I have access to build a canvas on which to paint "Sophie". So instead this is a picture (a really bad picture by the way, I might get a better one to replace it later) of an acrylic painting on canvas I did last year. It's much better in real life. This was an assignment we had to do that was to incorporate texture and geometric-ish shapes. It was really a lot of fun, but to do straight lines you have to tape, which takes forever to get perfect and blah, blah, blah. Anywho, I think I'm going to do another painting like this over the summer when I have oodles of time. But I'll need to get some paint first...
I got a better picture!

Cow Wallpaper

Today I decided who I'm going to do my personal project on! It's inspired by Andy Warhol's painting, "Cow Wallpaper" but it will be of my beautiful dog Sophie! And it will be like this painting, or like Warhol's very famous paintings of Marilyn Monroe. (Less detailed, and more color-blocky) It's going to be super awesome and great as long as I can pull it off the way Warhol does. Lets hope! I'll definitely be blogging about how it goes and have a picture of the finished project asap. :)

Toilet.

This is my toilet. I made this in pottery several months ago as a "vase" project. I'm too non-square to make a square or round vase so this is what I came up with. I also entered it in our school art show, yay. But not prize worthy. As far as pottery goes I had the most fun making this project. But let me tell you it was work. (even a little bit of geometry was required) But other than that this was an insanely fun project. Also, the toilet is about 8'' tall. Not life-sized but how awesome would that be. Of course you couldn't use it if it was that large... in theory.

Intro to Blog

I had no idea I could paint. A little more than a year ago I painted this. And I found that I love painting. This happens to be my first legitimate piece of art. I currently have several other pieces of art that I'll post about in later blogs. I've learned massive amounts about art in just a few years. I've dipped in to pottery and several other sorts of sculpture, but painting is truly my passion, and I will continue to pursue it throughout my life. My school recently had its annual art show, in which we had several artists place highly in. (Not me, mostly juniors and seniors) The other type of art that I love is textural painting, and additive painting. One of the weird things about me is I let my inner artist out on just about all my stuff. (those of you that have seen my converse would know) I have paint or glue or some type of material on just about every pair of jeans and shoes I own, whether it was on purpose or accident. Art is a major part of my life when it can be. Lately in my art class we have to make a painting that's inspired from another artist, and I haven't decided yet who. I was thinking Salvador Dali, but I only wish I had that much talent. Granted he was on LSD while he painted. So anyway, I'm falling behind in my art class due to the stresses of my less creative classes. I'm working hard to catch up and not let my art fade into the horizon (get over it Peter) of everyday life.
